Louise, MA, BA (Hons), ADG FE/HE Dyslexia Guild professional member, first began working with disabled HE students in 2008, whilst undertaking her BA Hons degree at the University of Greenwich. The Disability and Dyslexia team offered Louise a role as an electronic notetaker and library support assistant.
As a disabled person herself, Louise is highly motivated in supporting students with Disabilities and Learning Differences to access education. In 2010, this passion secured her funding to specialise in Dyslexia; a learning difference close to her heart as both her father and younger brother have dyslexia. Louise undertook Assistive Technology trainer training in 2018 and now enjoys further enhancing study skills techniques via Assistive Technology.
Louise’s legal background means she particularly enjoys supporting students with their argumentation, critical thinking skills, evaluation and problem-solving. Her Award in Education and Training qualification, alongside experience in workshop delivery and coordination, has enhanced her individualised approach to support and the effective tailoring of sessions to individual learning styles. Louise is not a conventional tutor, she loves to get involved in the knowledge-building process and learn alongside her students, for example, role playing with her legal students, acting out case law and mock trials to embed her student’s learning.
Louise has had experience in mentoring and coaching, as the Traineeship Manager of a London based training provider, where she secured her department Ofsted Outstanding in 2016. Louise has vast experience in safeguarding, Prevent duty and working with vulnerable groups. Louise continues to take great pride in updating her CPD and is currently considering undertaking a PhD. As well as NeuroKnowHow Ltd, Louise has worked as a Wellbeing Coordinator at the University of Greenwich; leading on their first successful DSA-QAG accreditation in April 2018.
